Here I am at the tail end of my second to last weekend in Boston, hard to believe. I spent the weekend with some old friends from Berklee. Beth took the Chinatown Express bus from NYC to Boston, Danny cruised up from Washington D.C. where he is in the midst of his new career in the Army, while Josh has recently relocated back to Boston with his wife, Diana, to finish the Berklee degree that he started here in 1997.
We toured around and saw a bunch of our old haunts, and during our cruise by Berklee I even stopped by and bought a Berklee t-shirt. This was a major milestone for me because I have always considered myself too cool to own such a thing. I figure that in Minnesota it may look exotic, and I really do think I need to have some kind of memento from the place. I may even wear it on the plane ride home! We then headed back to Josh's new pad to dine on pizza, throw back a few brews, and settle into a night of reminiscing and playing Karaoke Revolution. It was quite humbling to find out that even four Berklee College of Music students can't get their karaoke on very well. Diana, the only non-Berklee person in the group put us all to shame. It was hilarious.
We all woke up to some killer waffles and coffee this morning before we parted ways. It was my first "not sure when I'll see you again" farewell. I don't like them at all, and I have too many this week.
It's strange, I have no idea when I'm going to be in Boston again after next Thursday. I know I'm going to visit, I just don't know how soon it's going to be. For as long as I've been here I've spent all my vacation time visiting family. Now that I'm going to be surrounded by family all the time I'm going to be able to visit new places that I've never been. I'm sure I'll end up in Boston eventually, but I wonder when.
